JULIE STEWART,MD
I’m Julie Stewart, MD, originally from south Louisiana. I returned to school in my early thirties while my oldest son started Kindergarten and began my journey in medicine. After graduating from LSU Health Science Center, I moved to Charleston to complete my internship in General Surgery and my residency in Ophthalmology. Shortly after finishing my residency, I worked briefly with another ophthalmologist before launching my practice in Mt. Pleasant. My initial focus was cataract surgery and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).
In 2023, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Undergoing intense chemotherapy and multiple surgeries led to peripheral neuropathy in my feet, which made continuing microsurgery impossible since operating pedals is essential for those procedures.
Life is an adventure filled with opportunities to pivot and redefine who we are and what we do. Having always been passionate about the aesthetic side of medicine, which I practiced extensively early in my career, I’m excited that Bare Skin Medical Spa represents my most fulfilling pivot yet.
I aim to offer patients options that help them feel their best while looking like their natural, rejuvenated selves. I focus on creating beautifully natural results by carefully assessing each patient’s bone structure and facial changes. I develop long-term plans that include retraining facial muscles in both younger and older patients and stimulating the body’s collagen production in areas that benefit from a fuller appearance.
I want my patients to look like their best selves rested, happy, and glowing with renewed vitality.
I’m deeply aware of how hormonal changes affect the skin, whether in teenagers or women approaching perimenopause and menopause. I’ve dedicated countless hours to training and learning the best ways to combat these changes and maintain a smooth, radiant complexion.
To me, Aesthetics is the perfect intersection of science and art and I love it.
